My healing modalities include Holistic Pulsing, a safe, gentle & nurturing body-mind therapy that uses rocking & stretching to release trauma from your essence, Holistic Counselling, Sound Therapy and Ritual.
My Story
I have been surrounded by death since I was a little girl, it never really scared me, I just viewed it as a part of life - we are born, we live and we die.
Hi Im Michell and I'm a death doula, most people about now say "a what"!!!! What's that?
It's not all I do but right now it seems to be in focus and needed
Towards the end of 2008 a good friend Geraldine, asked me to be part of a team of 3 people who helped care for her in the last months of her life, I didn't realise it at the time but this was my first role as a death doula.
Around the same time, my sister was fighting her own battle with cancer and as one experience ended another began. I went straight on to help care for her until she passed.
My role as a carer continued on for the next 10 years as I cared first for my Dad and then my Mum as they completed the last years of their lives.
Over the last few years, I have been called to service many times most recently when a young man whom I have known since he was a teenager died from brain cancer.
During the years I have tussled with the idea of becoming a death doula in a professional capacity but never felt quite ready. I have now accepted the mantle and recently completed a course to expand my skills and I feel ready to be of service to whoever is drawn to me at the right time.
I see death as a natural conclusion to life and have a passion for assisting others to embrace death lovingly and intuitively that reflects and honours the dying person. I will guide you, be with you and hold your hand every step of the way. I love to use ceremony and ritual to transition us through this process with an unwavering experienced hand.
I am now also teaching the LIfe Options Death Doula course face-to-face in Cairns, Nth QLD
